Toponymy :

“La Bostonnais is named after an American from Boston who came to live with the Abenaki and whose origins became his surname. In 1823, Jean-Baptiste Bostonnais baptized a son in Trois-Rivières. The Bostonnais family had hunting grounds on the banks of the river, which has borne their name since at least the early 1800s.”

Covered bridges :

The Ducharme covered bridge is located at municipality’s centre. Its “town-style” construction dates back to 1945. Near the bridge is a picnic area. The Thiffault covered bridge, located further north, was named after the owner of the adjacent lands.

Rivière Bostonnais :

The Bostonnais represents a canoe route of over 90 km (55 mi.). A map indicating the river rapids and their levels of difficulty, portages and primitive campgrounds is available from the Fédération.

Rest area :

This rest stop and picnic area has a magnificent view of the river. It also provides river access for canoeists and kayakers.
