Outfitters

You can hunt and fish through a network of more than 60 outfitters, 21 of whom have exclusive rights. The latter are mostly located near the La Tuque sector. Overall, the network boasts more than 3,000 woodland accommodation spots, distributed among cottages, camps, inns, hotels and houseboats.

In addition to providing fish and game of exceptional quality and quantity, Haut-Saint-Maurice’s outfitters also serve as adventure outfitters with different activities available, like hiking, boating, wild berry picking and wildlife observation, to name but a few. orignal

Planning on doing some fishing, hunting or recreational tourism? There’s no need to reserve in advance. Just stop by the reception desk to register and pay the required fee. Reservations are only needed for certain services like boat rentals, accommodation and camping. Discover the ZECs of Haut-Saint-Maurice: a wide range of recreational tourism activities at your disposal during your stay, at a very reasonable cost.

Fishing, hunting, ATVing, snowmobiling, canoeing, hiking, mountain biking, camping, resort vacations, wild berry picking, wildlife observation: just a few activities to whet the appetites of those who love the great outdoors. The region’s nine ZECs (zones d’exploitation contrôlés, or controlled harvesting zones) cover an area of some 4,000 km2 (1,544 sq. mi.), a territory abounding with game, hundreds of lakes and numerous rivers, not to mention endless miles of roads and trails beckoning you to explore the backcountry and admire the scenery. The controlled zones are run by volunteer administrators who are elected at their ZEC’s general meeting.

The Gouin reservoir community wildlife area (AFC - aire faunique communautaire)

The Gouin reservoir is a community wildlife area (AFC), a public body of water subject to a lease of exclusive fishing rights for community purposes. The reservoir is managed by a non-profit corporation. To fish in the AFC, you must obtain permission from the corporation and pay the associated fee.
