Extending over some 30,000 km2 (12,000 sq. mi.), Haut-Saint-Maurice comprises the City of La Tuque (consisting of the former City of La Tuque, the municipalities of La Croche and Parent, and the unorganized territories or TNO), the rural municipalities of Lac-Édouard and La Bostonnais, and two Atikamekw First Nation communities. Haut-Saint-Maurice, located in Québec’s Mauricie region, neighbours the Centre-du-Québec, Lanaudière, Laurentides, Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Baie-James, Québec City and Saguenay–Lac-St-Jean regions.

The snowy season, in turn, offers up countless miles of snowmobile trails connected by a network of welcoming relay stations. In Haut-Saint-Maurice, you can also indulge in any number of other winter pastimes like downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, dogsledding and ice-skating.

A true paradise for hunting and fishing enthusiasts, the region boasts nine controlled harvesting zones (zones d'exploitation contrôlées, or ZECs) and over 63 outfitters.

When it comes to culture, Haut-Saint-Maurice serves up a scintillating mix: shows, films, summer theatre, crafts, ethno-cultural tourism, churches, covered bridges, a centre and trail dedicated to Félix Leclerc, a fur trade interpretive centre and a coureur des bois circuit and Anne-Stillman-Mc Cormick centre. The region’s exciting calendar of events includes several festivals, while the services and amenities provided by many local businesses are sure to make your stay even more enjoyable.
